Terms and Conditions

VSP Premier Edge

VSP Premier Edge ("Premier Edge") is offered to all VSP Network Practices, subject to the eligibility requirements outlined below, to assist in maximizing vision care benefits for VSP members, while providing a competitive advantage centered around business-building benefits.

The following terms and conditions apply to all VSP Network Practices taking advantage of Premier Edge. Additional Premier Edge terms and conditions may apply. VSP Vision reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of or discontinue Premier Edge at any time without notice.

ELIGIBILITY

Premier Edge is available to Independent Eye Care Providers with active VSP Network Practices that have not opted out of providing value-added discounts to VSP members on non-covered services and materials1, have not indicated that VSP savings and discounts are not guaranteed at their Practice, are located in the United States, and are in good standing. In addition, Eye Care Providers located in Texas and who opt in to a VSP Network Doctor Agreement on or after January 1, 2024 or who initially join VSP's Doctor Network on or after January 1, 2024 are not eligible to participate in Premier Edge.

Any VSP Network Provider that is subject to any form of restrictive status participation would not be in good standing and therefore, does not qualify for this program.2 Only VSP Network Providers and Practices that are not excluded, debarred, suspended, nor owned or controlled, in whole or in part, by a person that is excluded, debarred, or suspended, from participation in (a) any Federal health care program as defined by 42 U.S.C. §1320a-7b(f), including, but to limited to, Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE, or (b) any State health care program, as defined in 42 U.S.C. § 1320a-7(h) are eligible for Premier Edge.

Restrictive status participation includes, but is not limited to: (i) provisional participation on the VSP Doctor Network through a retail provider, group, or affiliate arrangement; (ii)conditional participation on the VSP Doctor Network, (iii) participation subject to a litigation Settlement Agreement or a Consent Decree and Agreement, and/or (iv) participation subject to any existing or pending adverse action regarding VSP Doctor Network participation (e.g., termination notice and/or a restitution demand and/or a payment workout program).

FEDERAL, STATE, AND HEALTHCARE PROGRAM EXCLUSIONS

Federal anti-kickback laws provide for criminal and/or civil liability for inducements related to any product for which payment may be made by a Federal healthcare program or federally funded State healthcare programs, including Medicaid and Medicare (collectively, “Federally Funded Programs”). Some states have similar anti-kickback laws and regulations (“State Laws”). Any item or service for which payment is made, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by any Federal health care program or State health care program, or otherwise prohibited by Federal or State laws or regulations, does not qualify for any promotion offered by VSP Premier Edge.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

Premier Edge is comprised of three benefit levels (Platinum, Gold, and Silver) in which valuable discounts and services grow with increased spending target levels. At the end of each calendar month, an assessment is run to determine the spend over the last twelve months. If a practice reaches a higher spending target level than they currently are, they can move up a level at any calendar month until the next annual check-in. At the annual check-in, each Practice is reviewed against the level qualifications and could move to a higher or lower Premier Edge level. Annual check-in date is December 31.

GENERAL QUALIFYING PURCHASES

Spending targets vary by benefit level but generally include:

  1. Marchon®/Altair Frames – Marchon/Altair Frames purchasing amounts necessary to qualify for any Premier Edge level are calculated on net per location spend over the last twelve months.
  2. Lens Product Purchases – The purchases of eligible lenses and enhancements from VSP Optics, Carl Zeiss Vision (ZEISS), and Hoya Vision Care (HOYA) when dispensed to VSP patients are used to qualify for Premier Edge benefit levels. Qualified purchases are the sum of the charge back amounts for VSP Optics, HOYA, and ZEISS applied to VSP claims as shown on the Explanation of Payment (“EOP”) statement. The Lens Purchase threshold for any Premier Edge Level is based on the sum of per-location combined spend amount.
  3. VSP Flex Spend – Gold and Platinum Levels must meet the VSP Flex Spend criterion, which is calculated by adding the total qualified product purchases and subtracting the minimum qualifying purchasing criteria. The minimum VSP Flex Spend must meet the minimum criteria to achieve Gold and Platinum Level status.

I. SILVER LEVEL

A. Qualifications

The Silver Level of benefits is available to all VSP Network Practices with a single location spend of $6,000 on Marchon/Altair/VSP Optics/HOYA/ZEISS products.

If there are multiple Practice locations, after one Practice location has spent $6,000 on Marchon/Altair/VSP Optics/HOYA/ZEISS products, each subsequent Practice location only needs to spend $3,000 per additional location on Marchon/Altair/VSP Optics/HOYA/ZEISS products.

B. Benefits

Practices with Silver Level status will receive the following Premier Edge benefits:

  1. Featured Frame Brands Listing

    The Featured Frame Brands indicator will be automatically added to the Practice’s Find-a-Doctor listing on VSP.com. To qualify for the Featured Frame Brands designation, each Practice location must either have purchased at least $6,000 net of Marchon and/or Altair Frames over the past 12 months or had at least 60 VSP patients select Marchon and/or Altair Frames over the past 12 months.

  2. Practice Report

    The Practice Report provides a comprehensive, personalized financial summary of the Practice based on VSP claims data. The financial data should be used as guidance in Practice decisions and not for tax purposes.

  3. VSP Premier Edge Training and Education

    VSP Premier Edge Training and Education eLearning courses, webinars, workshops, and resources through premieredgetraining.com provide valuable education and training for doctors and staff on significant topics, aimed at helping increase revenue, maximizing patient traffic, developing efficiencies, and supporting sub-specialties and differentiation.

  4. VSP Premier Edge Marketing Support

    VSP Premier Edge Marketing Support offers Practices seasonal marketing campaigns, promotions, and marketing resources. For additional information, please visit premieredgemarketing.com.

  5. VSPOne® Rewards

    The VSPOne Rewards Program gives eye care providers opportunities to receive and redeem points on proprietary brand product orders placed with any of the VSPOne Optical Technology Centers. Practices must opt-in to participate. For complete program details, official rules, and terms and conditions please visit VSPOneRewards.com.

  6. VSP Individual Vision Plans Doctor Program

    Practices can earn advertising dollars by displaying VSP Individual Vision Plan banner ads and directed links on their website. When a patient clicks on a VSP banner ad or link that lands on the VSP Direct application page, the practice receives a $5 advertising payment. Purchase of an Individual Vision Plan from VSP is not required to receive advertising dollars. To get started, the Practice must sign-up at vspproviderhub.com/working-with-vsp/individual-plans.

  7. Eyefinity®

    Premier Edge Practices are eligible to receive up to $1,500 off onboarding fees for up to three doctors on any new combined subscription or purchase of Eyefinity Practice Management and/or Eyefinity EHR.   8. VSP Premier Edge Partners

II. GOLD LEVEL

A. Qualifications

Premier Edge Gold Level is open to all VSP Network Practices that meet a threshold of $12,000 on qualifying products. This includes the Marchon/Altair Frame target of $10,000, VSP Optics/HOYA/ZEISS Products target of $1,000 and Flex Spend target of $1,000.

Once a VSP Network Practice location spends $12,000, each subsequent location that is owned and/or operated by that Practice only needs to meet a threshold spend of $6,000 to maintain Gold Level status. All subsequent locations must meet a Marchon/Altair Frame target of $5,000, VSP Optics/HOYA/ZEISS Products target of $500 and Flex Spend target of $500.

In addition to purchasing thresholds, Practices must also honor the following consumer conveniences at all locations:

  1. Retinal Imaging - VSP Network Practices participating in Premier Edge must have retinal imaging in at least one location.
  2. Free Fittings & Adjustments on Prescription Glasses - VSP members receive free fittings and adjustments on prescription glasses or sunglasses purchased at the same location. In case of damage, see manufacturer warranty or VSP Premier Edge Promise in the Benefits section below for more details.
  3. VSP Exclusive Member Extras – VSP Network Practices participating in Premier Edge must agree to accept all VSP Exclusive Member Extras at their location(s).3

B. Benefits

In addition to the benefits outlined under the Silver Level, Gold Level Practices receive the following:

  1. VSP Premier Edge Indicator
    A month after the Practice qualifies for Premier Edge, the indicator will be updated to include the Practice on the VSP.com Find-a-Doctor directory (unless not permitted by law). Premier Edge Indicator is not meant as a designation of care quality, as all VSP doctors already meet our high standards for professional services.
  2. VSP Premier Edge Training and Education Training Badge and Certificate of Completion
    Gold and Platinum Level VSP Network Providers who complete education seminars focused on practice management and patient-service experience from premieredgetraining.com earn a badge that will be displayed next to their Practice listing on VSP.com Find-a-Doctor. Individuals who complete a designated suite of eLearning courses earn the VSP Visionary Pro certificate of completion, which identifies them as a valuable resource for knowledge about VSP products and services.
     
  3. Additional $10 Frame Payment

    Qualifying Gold Level VSP Network Practices receive an additional $10 per frame when a VSP member with the Enhanced Featured Frame Plan selects a Marchon or Altair frame from their Practice. The additional $10 on any Marchon or Altair frame is only available for VSP Signature Plan and VSP Choice Plan participants. This additional benefit to the Practice will be noted on the Explanation of Payment (“EOP”) as Additional Frame Payment.

  4. VSP Premier Edge Career Support

    VSP Network Practices benefit from access to dedicated VSP recruiters to help them find qualified Optometrists. VSP does not guarantee the placement of any practice professionals. All interviewing and hiring of Practice professionals are the sole responsibility of the Practice.

    VSP Network Practices also benefit from access to other hiring related resources, including free job listings on the VSP Vision Optometry Careers Site, which is linked to over 300 career sites. To request assistance, visit premieredgecareers.com on the Provider Hub.

  5. Altair Eyewear Brand Savings

    VSP Network Practices with Gold Level status will receive an exclusive 30% discount on all JOE optical orders from Altair.

  6. Enhanced Eyefinity® Customer Service

    Enhanced customer service includes a dedicated Eyefinity® support email address. Email EyefinityPremierSupport@Eyefinity.com to learn more.

  7. VSP Enhanced Individual Vision Plans Doctor Program

    VSP Network Practices earn payments for advertising VSP Individual Vision Plans on their Practice website. When a patient clicks on a banner ad or link that redirects to the VSP Direct page, the Practice will receive an $8 advertising payment. Purchase of an Individual Vision Plan from VSP is not required to participate. To take part in this offer, sign-up at EarnmorewithVSP.com.

  8. Exclusive Member Extras – VSP Premier Edge Offers
    1. VSP Premier Edge Promise
      The Premier Edge Promise is available to Gold and Platinum Level VSP Premier Edge practices. Premier Edge Promise is a worry-free eyewear guarantee that protects VSP patients from the unexpected, whether it’s accidentally broken or damaged glasses, a prescription change, or a style change if they don’t love the glasses they chose. It provides additional warranty protection for frame breakage, prescription changes or style change and cannot be used to replace lost or stolen glasses, and excludes non-Featured Frame Brand frames, frame manufacturer warranty (defects), lens enhancement and/or progressive warranties, non-VSP covered services, contact lens services and materials, and a lens redo that falls under VSP First Time Redo policy. Members who participate in a Medicaid/state-funded plan are not eligible. Eligibility for frame replacement is based on the professional judgment of the Premier Edge Practice.

      To qualify for the Premier Edge Promise, a VSP member must receive an exam and/or purchase an eligible Featured Frame Brand from a Premier Edge practice using their VSP coverage (excludes private pay purchases).

      Damaged or Broken Glasses
      The Premier Edge Promise is available, as needed, for one year from the original date of purchase of an eligible Featured Frame Brand. If the original frame is not available as a replacement, a frame of similar style and cost may be substituted. Reuse the original lenses unless also broken or exact frame is no longer available. Patients are responsible for a $40 processing fee4 if lenses are provided. The Practice must honor the warranty even if their Premier Edge participation status changes during the frame warranty period. Members may add any additional non-covered lens enhancements at Choice Lens Enhancement pricing.

      Prescription Change
      The Premier Edge Promise is available for one year from the original date of exam with a Premier Edge provider and offers one additional WellVision Exam® exam and includes replacement spectacle lenses (lenses require minimum prescription change of 0.5 diopter). Patients are responsible for a $40 processing fee4 if lenses are provided. Members may add any additional non-covered lens enhancements at Choice Lens Enhancement pricing.

      Providers must exhaust VSP’s First Time Redo policy, manufacturer’s Progressive non-adapt/warranty and/or client’s Interim Benefits first, if applicable.

      Style Change
      The Premier Edge Promise allows for a one time change within 100 days from the original date of purchase of an eligible Featured Frame Brand with a $40 process fee4. VSP will cover a replacement frame (any brand) of equal or lesser value and replacement lenses, including any lens enhancements on their original pair. Members may add any additional non-covered lens enhancements at Choice Lens Enhancement pricing.

      Premier Edge practices must follow these steps to honor the Premier Edge Promise:
      1. Member must bring their featured frame brand glasses back to the same Premier Edge provider that supplied the frame for broken/damaged glasses and style changes, or must return to the same Premier Edge provider that conducted the original exam for a prescription change.
      2. Provider must call VSP for authorization under the Premier Edge Promise. Only request lenses when necessary.
      3. Provider must submit all claims to VSP using a VSP contract lab for lens replacements.
      4. Provider must collect the patient paid $40 processing fee, any additional non-covered lens enhancements at Choice Lens Enhancement pricing and/or frame overage, as applicable.
      5. Provider must collect and dispose/donate original glasses per office policy.
        • Do not return glasses to Marchon or Altair.
        • Do not allow member to keep original glasses.

      All frames manufactured by Marchon and Altair are eligible for this program. The Premier Edge Promise is not an insurance plan. Availability and eligibility of Featured Frame Brands is subject to change. VSP reserves the right to change or cancel the Premier Edge Promise at any time without notice.

      Replacement lenses must use a VSP contract lab, in-office finishing, or private lab is not allowed.

    2. Bausch + Lomb Patient Rebate
      VSP Members save up to $310 on an annual supply of eligible Bausch + Lomb contact lenses. This is the highest rebate offer on eligible Bausch + Lomb products in the market. Current rebate runs from January 1, 2024 to June 31, 2024.
    3. ZEISS Satisfaction Guarantee & ZEISS PhotoFusion X Satisfaction Guarantee
      VSP Members can try any ZEISS SmartLife lenses, ZEISS DriveSafe lenses, ZEISS Light lenses, DuraVision coatings, and PhotoFusion self-tinting lens enhancements risk free for 12 months. If not completely satisfied, members can call VSP or alert their VSP doctor, and VSP will refund any associated out-of-pocket expenses, less any co-pays, and replace their lenses with a comparable lens of choice – free of charge.
    4. HOYA Vision Care Satisfaction Guarantee
      VSP Members can try any Hoya Vision Care lens or lens enhancement risk free for 12 months when purchasing from a VSP Premier Edge location. If not completely satisfied, members can call VSP or alert their VSP doctor, and VSP will refund any associated out-of-pocket expenses, less any co-pays, and replace their lenses with a comparable lens of choice – free of charge.
    5. 12-Month Unity Promise
      VSP Members can try any Unity single vision or progressive lenses risk free for 12 months when purchasing from a VSP Premier Edge location. If not completely satisfied, members can call VSP or alert their VSP doctor, and VSP will refund any associated out-of-pocket expenses, less any co-pays, and replace their lenses with a comparable lens of choice – free of charge.
       

    4. $40 process fee is paid by the patient to the Premier Edge practice and will be deducted from the provider’s claim payment. Additionally, patient must pay any additional non-covered lens enhancements at Choice Lens Enhancement pricing and/or frame overage, as applicable.

  9. Prioritized Call Center Handling

    Qualified Practices receive call prioritization when using the VSP Vision Care Call Center (1.800.615.1883), VSP Optics Call Center (1.800.952.5518), Marchon Call Center (1.800.645.1300), and Altair Call Center (1.800.505.5557).

  10. Premier Doctor-Remote Equipment Offer

    Premier Edge Practices are eligible for education, purchasing assistance, implementation resources and discounts on doctor-remote comprehensive eye exam platforms and equipment from ZEISS, DigitalOptometrics, and Topcon. Consult your Global Business Development Manager or visit VSPproviderhub.com/doctor-remote to learn more about this offer.

  11. VSP Premier Edge Partner(s)

III. PLATINUM LEVEL

A. Qualifications

The Platinum Level is open to all single location VSP Network Practices that meet a spending threshold of $36,000 on a rolling 12-month basis. This includes the Marchon/Altair Frame target of $20,000, VSP Optics/HOYA/ZEISS Products target of $10,000 and Flex Spend target of $6,000.

Once a Practice with multiple locations meets a spending threshold of $36,000 at one location, each subsequent location need only meet a spending threshold of $18,000. This includes the Marchon/Altair Frame target of $10,000 per location, VSP Optics/HOYA/ZEISS Products target of $5,000 per location, and Flex Spend target of $3,000 per location.

In addition to spending thresholds, Practices must also honor the following consumer conveniences at all locations:

  1. Retinal Imaging - VSP Network Practices participating in Premier Edge must have retinal imaging in at least one location.
  2. Free Fittings & Adjustments on Prescription Glasses - VSP members receive free fittings and adjustments on any prescription glasses or sunglasses purchased at the same location. In case of damage, see manufacturer warranty or VSP Premier Edge Promise in the Benefits section below for more details.
  3. VSP Exclusive Member Extras - VSP Network Practices participating in Premier Edge must agree to accept all VSP Exclusive Member Extras at their location.5

B. Benefits

Platinum Level Practices receive program benefits from the Silver and Gold Levels in addition to the following:

  1. Additional $15 or $25 Frame Payment

    Qualifying Practices receive an additional $15 per frame when a VSP member selects any Marchon and/or Altair manufactured frame. If the member has an Enhanced Featured Frame Plan, the frame benefit to the Practice will be $25 on all Marchon and/or Altair frames. The additional $15 or $25 on Marchon or Altair frames is available on VSP Signature Plan and VSP Choice Plan claims (Medicare and Charity Care are not eligible). This will be listed on the Explanation of Payment (“EOP”) as Additional Frame Payment at the patient level.

  2. Enhanced VSPOne® Rewards

    The VSPOne Rewards Program gives eye care providers opportunities to receive and redeem points on proprietary brand product orders placed with any of the VSPOne Optical Technology Centers. Each point has an approximate $1 value toward redemption of items in our VSPOne Rewards Program online shopping catalog. (Note: points have no cash value). Platinum accounts earn more.   3. VSP Premier Edge Extra Lens Savings *

    Premier Edge Extra Lens Savings apply to the VSP Signature, Choice, and Advantage Lab network‐based products, including: VSP Signature Plan®, VSP Choice Plan®, VSP Advantage Plan®, VSP Essentials Plan, Vision Savings Pass, Choice Elements, Advantage Elements, Signature Elements, 2nd pair with primary benefit of Signature and Choice. Extra Lens Savings is not available on Stock or Uncut lenses.

    Eligible products and lens enhancements include6:

    • VSP Optics – qualified Unity® and Ethos®, TechShield®, and SunSync®
    • Carl Zeiss Vision – qualified ZEISS SmartLife, DriveSafe, and DuraVision

    The total Premier Edge Extra Lens Savings for the claims will show up as Unity Savings, HOYA Savings, and ZEISS Savings line items on the Explanation of Payment (“EOP”).

    * Federal, State, and Healthcare Program Exclusions: Any item or service for which payment may be made, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by any Federal or State healthcare program shall not qualify and is not eligible for inclusion and/or participation in Premier Edge Extra Lens Savings.

  4. VSP Premier Edge Marketing Support Social Media Management Program

    Qualifying Practices benefit from a complimentary social media management account (annual value of $600) with new social media content and graphics. Interested Practices should complete a request form at premieredgemarketing.com.

  5. Partnerships

    The Kering Eyewear promotion is available to Practices participating in Premier Edge at the Platinum level and is subject to change without notice. Additional terms and conditions may apply.

    1. Receive a $5 Frame Payment Rebate when a VSP member selects from a large collection of luxury brands. Eligible Practices must purchase two of the following qualifying brands: Gucci, Saint Laurent, Chloé, Balenciaga, Montblanc, Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen, Boucheron, Alaïa, Pomellato, and Dunhill. Puma and MCQ frames are eligible for the $5 Frame Payment, but do not count as a qualifying brand.
    2. Receive a $10 Frame Payment Rebate when a VSP member selects from a large collection of luxury brands. Eligible Practices must purchase three of the following qualifying brands: Gucci, Saint Laurent, Chloé, Balenciaga, Montblanc, Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen, Boucheron, Alaïa, Pomellato, and Dunhill. Puma and MCQ frames are eligible for the $5 Frame Payment, but do not count as a qualifying brand.
    3. Frame Payments are based on the number of qualifying Kering Eyewear frames purchased by VSP members utilizing their VSP benefits (measured by VSP claims). Interested practices should contact their Kering Eyewear brand ambassador or email sales.us@kering.com.
       
  6. Prioritized Call Center Handling

    Qualified Practices receive call prioritization when using the VSP Vision Care Call Center (1.800.615.1883), VSP Optics Call Center (1.800.952.5518), Marchon Call Center (1.800.645.1300), and Altair Call Center (1.800.505.5557).

  7. Value Program Summary

    Practices will receive a statement designed to show the value received by the Practice over the last quarter and last twelve months because of their participation in Premier Edge and related programs. This one-page quarterly snapshot provides a custom view of the Practice’s YTD (Year to Date) financials resulting from the associated VSP value programs.
